My computer won't power on after a lightning storm. It wasn't plugged into a surge protector, but can I still repair my computer?

    There's not a simple answer to that question. You may have suffered damage to more than one component. Hopefully, it's only your power supply which is damaged, and just replacing that will take care of without tremendous expense, or data loss. There is a possibility your motherboard is damaged in addition, or instead. That will be more expensive. The worst case scenario would not result in a complete refusal to power on, namely, hard disk damage. While replacing the hard disk would not be very difficult or expensive in absolute terms, you would have to deal with lost data, and data is the one thing on your computer that is really irreplaceable.

    Backups and surge protectors from now on, friend.
