  • This is most likely the clutch switch. You can check it by jumping the two wires going to the switch. If the car starts consistently, then you know that's the problem. If that isn't the problem, then the next most likely culprit is the electrical portion of the ignition switch. On most cars, that can be replaced without having to get a new ignition lock and key.
