  • For me if I could stay in a cabin , I'd love it and feel safe --- In a tent in the woods , I'd get the heebie gebbie's and hide in the car -
  • I would feel perfectly safe camping alone..more so if I took the puppies with me :)
  • Don't even dare do it at all. What would happened if you get lost, or end up in a emergency? Who would help you during the times of need? These are some points to consider besides using the buddy system and having others help you.
  • It all depends on where you're going and how far you'll be from civilization. On a national park in designated areas you should be fine camping and hiking on your own as long as you play it safe and use common sense. Get info on local wildlife, keep your food in a tree sack or in your vehicle, away from your tent, not in the tent. Pick up some bear mace and know how to use it properly. Learn about bears. Many myths about bears are completely false. It pays to learn the truth and know the facts. It's not always recommended to venture out alone, but a serious hiker/camper will be able to handle it. It's not recommended for the amateur. Personally I like doing things on my own. Depends on the person. Some are more solitary than others. But still, play it safe!
  • For backpacking I would be comfotable doing that except that accidents happen so I would always follow the backpacking rule of never alone. One exception would be on a trail that is very popular and you would expect several people to pass each day. That would mean you couldn't leave a trail very far. You would also have to let someone know where you were going and when to start worrying if you don't return. Camping in a public campground you aren't ever really alone.
  • Well if you know how to build a fire and how to protect yourself out in the wild you could. I go camping every weekend at this campground so i can see my GF. Her parents own the place. So yea i am quite used to the outdoors.
  • I am an avid camper and I have seen all kinds of emergencies happen. The ones who come out best are the ones that take supplies for an unforseen condition. I want someone else with me. I live in TN mountains and the weather and terrain can be unpredictable. Anything can happen and I amnot going to bet that it will not happen. I would rather be looking for it to happen. Be safe!
  • I'd be afraid too many bugs and animals..I don't ever think it's a good idea to go alone...To many things can go wrong..What if you had a bear near you, what if you cut yourself, hit your heard, had an allergic reaction to a bite, no cell phone service in far away places. not for me or mine, I hope.
