  • Yes. The number and location of the muscles will be the same. However, the composition of the muscles will probably differ. There are several types of muscle fibres, ranging from type I slow oxidative fibres, which produce a moderate force upon contraction but can hold that contraction for a long time and are fatigue resistant. Type II fibres are faster, and come in two varieties - oxidative and glycolytic. Type IIB fatigue very fast but produce a large amount of force upon contraction, perhaps 25 times the slow force produced. Type IIA produce an intermediate force of contraction, respond faster than type I, and fatigue slower than type IIB. The ratio of muscle body to tendon attachment length also varies with ethnicity.
