When glass bottles are recycled, how much of the glass is actually re-used and how much is lost in the process?

Essentially all the glass is reused. Glass is a very simple material, and recycled glass is simply melted down and remoulded. There may be a tiny amount dropped on the floor or similar, but basically it all gets recycled. There can be a problem with different colours of glass. Apparently the UK has a lot more green recycled glass than UK glass consumers want - probably all that wine imported in green bottles. But if there is demand for the same colour, all the glass can be reused.
