Honey, applied externally can heal first degree burns safely. The Indian herb “Yashti madhu” powder decoction can also help heal the burns.

A vinegar and water mixture sprayed on the burn takes the sting out. Try it - it's unbelievable. Use clear, or white, household vinegar. You'll smell like a dill pickle, but so what?

Aloe really is great for burns. If you get at least 99% aloe leaf, and mix with a few drops of lavender oil it works great.

If anyone says butter, don't listen. It's an old myth that butter makes a burn better and it actually makes it worse. Ice works best.

Water is best. But you can make up large amounts of tea, cool it and soak rags in it. Apply these to the burns and it helps greatly to take the heat out of the burns. It is the tannin which does the work.

My grandmother swears by evaporated milk. She was a very fair skinned redhead and liked to sunbathe, so I assume she knows what she's talking about.

The egg whites are a miracle cure for burns, even severe ones. Soak or coat affected area in egg white. While the egg white is still wet you will feel no pain from the burn. As soon as it dries up the pain comes back so reapplication is necessary. This method not only alleviates the pain it actually heals and prevents scarring from the burn.

Liquid silver is the best for treating burns. Apply it immediately upon getting burned and it pulls the heat back out of the skin to prevent deeper burning. This also decreases the pain involved when used right away.

I use aloe with menthol and lidocaine. It absorbs right in and it cuts the pain as well as lessens the blistering. On small burns I use ice cubs.

Heatsink compound. Hey, I know it sounds silly, but I've burned myself with a soldering iron and it's all that I had lying around. Seemed to help.
