Why do we tend to put off doing important/ worthy things in favour of doing more trivial things? Does everybody do it?

I guess everybody has been guilty of that to some degree. Without sounding too psychological here, I guess it's the inner child in each of us demanding playing time before taking up actual obligations.

Because there is an impostor inside of us that tells us we cannot accomplish our goals and is constantly trying to steal our dreams and drag us into a bottomless pit of mediocrity. It is the job of our true self to take the reigns of our lives and, with God's help, silence the impostor and move toward greatness. It is also a touch of laziness <g>.

Im sitting in the front room of my friend's vey nice house using his laptop to go on answerbag! I think i shuld really be in bed 'cos it 03:30. But, I'll put sleep off until later.
