I have been going to the salon for permanent hair color of dark brown (natural color) with some reddish highlights. to save money, i want to do it at home myself. is this going to create a problem, or will the dyes mix without any catastrophies?

I just decided to let myself go grey again. My colorist left the salon and I believe that was a message for me to just let nature take control over my hair color. If people don't like my grey hair, they can look the other way. If you are going to color your own hair, go to a beauty supply store and get some decent hair color. You are not going to find good haircolor at the supermarket or drug store. Get a friend to help you cover the roots and it's very important to get a shampoo with no sulfites in it so the color doesn't strip from your hair everytime you wash it. Ask the clerk at the beauty supply for "sulfite free" shampoo. It's expensive but will keep your color much longer.

If your hairstylist is nice enough ask her for the brand and the code of the coloring and go to a beauty supply store and get it yourself. Hell of alot cheaper.
