• The tampon thing really depends on your flow and your body. Yes, if you're basically hemorrhaging, please, don't. But it's not like the tampon is instantly going to take on water and start leaking. It's very possible to have a body shape where the tampon doesn't even get wet.

• Oh that's alright - the clorine in the pool means you won't be leaving a cloud of blood in the water - just a trail of blood when you step out of the water.

• Don't know if your comment was directed at me or marj, but again, it's a body-type thing. Maybe the girls you've swum with had the wrong body type or failed at insertion. Not to be TMI, but I've never had a problem. Again, possible to have a body shape where the "outside"/"string" end is never touched by the poolwater.

• For one I have no idea what comment you are talking about. For two it does not matter if you have a string hagning out or if blood is out and about. Just because you cannot see somthing does not mean it is not there. I understand your opinion but I have mine as well and you can explain why I could be wrong until your blue in the face it's not going to change my mind.

• As far as it messing up your own personal lubrication, I agree. Pool water is dirtier than you might think, chemicals included. It is not healthy for neither partners privates to have any kind of water forced in and out of there, let alone chemical laden water.
  
  But the period thing... I think some people are stupid and should therefore be banned from doing just about anything that requires intelligence. I have used one during swimming, and I hate to tell you, I was aware at all times of what was where and if I needed to get out or not because it was in place, serving its purpose.

• Maybe as a kid. I peed in the lakes when I was a kid but not in the chlorine pool, and here's why- I was always told that there was a chemical in the pool that turned red or green and would follow you if you peed in the pool and I never wanted to be the kid with the red trail.
  I still hold on to that, and I'll tell my kids that too- I don't want them P'ing in the Ool either!
