  • A friend of mine with the new V10 M5 said its fine on his because it has some sort of rev limiter.
  • When starting from cold in neutral, you should never overrev, until the engine is warm. If you do you can accelerate piston and bore wear. This applies to any vehicle, including motorbikes.
  • In neutral, not recommended! Especially not with a cold engine and/or with the clutch engaged which of course you can do in neutral. Wear and tear will take its toll... and why would one want to do that anyway? There is absolutely no benefit to be gained from it! Treat your car well and it will repay you many times over.
  • As mentioned before, revving it high (above 3500rpm) before the engine can warm up will cause some slight engine damage since the oil isn't flowing freely yet. Once the engine is warmed up, however, feel free to rev it. Keep in mind that revving it often is just like putting miles on the odometer...and beamers are expensive to fix. If you want to show off your investment you can do it every once in a while with no effect (keep the rpms about 1500 below your redline to be safe) and get a little joy out of it. Personally I think any revving should be done while in gear. If you're going to show it off, do it on the track. Hope this helps, Good luck
