Most of the time, usually if you are over a certain age. Check your policy. Cover is usually only 3rd party. No frills.

That depends on your policy..read it well before you risk it..

Generally, cars are insured--not drivers. The car is insured, no matter who is driving. Of course, all accidents are charged against the car owner's insurance. This is in New Jersey USA. I'm not sure about other areas.

not usually, as far as I know. Your policy is specific to your vehicle.

In Tennessee, the auto insurance coverage covers the driver, no matter what vehicle the driver drives.

Assuming you are driving the vehicle with permission of its owner, typically the LIABILITY portion of your coverage is always in effect irrespective of the vehicle you are driving. The insurance (if any) on the car itself is the primary insurance; yours is secondary. The COLLISION and/or COMPREHENSIVE portions of your coverage most likely do not cover any vehicle other than the ones for which you have purchased the coverage. No one here can definitively answer your coverage question for you, though, because all insurance coverage is policy-specific, so general rules are of little help to you. It is important to read your specific policy and speak to your agent to determine exactly what is and isn't covered.
