  • They don't make anything they serve you!
  • hourly varies by state, but in california is minimum wage. then it varies by amount of business, quality/atmosphere of the restaurant (ie: denney's vs a five star french restaurant), how much alcohol is served (average tips are higher for alcohol), shift worked, night worked, location, etc. i work at a casual, family restaurant with wine and beer, weekday lunches and weekend dinners about 30 hours a week and make about 2000 per month including my hourly :) hope that helps!!
  • Around here, probably friends, if they're lucky, cos the money sucks in most places.
  • salads, dressing cups, condiment cups, drinks, time for smoke breaks.. um, yeah, and not a whole lot of money. Here in VA the minimum wage for tipped employees is $2.13 per hour.
  • i work in a restruand and im getting 12 buks and hour starting rate, and im not even 18 yet. PLUS tips. yay if u like people its a good job.
  • It varies region by region. Usually they make a special minimum wage which is lower than the normal minimum wage. I'm a waitress and I earn $7.60, although the normal minimum wage is $8.75. I live in Ontario (Canada). According to the Arizona Minimum Wage Act (http://www.ica.state.az.us/docs/minimumWage/minWage_FAQs.pdf), the normal minimum wage in Arizona is $6.90, and waitresses must be paid at least $3.90 by their employer so long as their tips average at $3 an hour; if they don't, their employer must make up the difference.
  • For those with less than one year experience, the Median Hourly Rate is $4.25 http://www.payscale.com/research/US/Job=Waitress/Hourly_Rate
  • It varies between employers. Also remember not all waiter boys and waitress girls don't work in restaurants or bars, some work in private homes as live-in domestic workers, employed by rich people (even if the worktasks in such cases often are done by other domestic workers, like kitchen boys/kitchen girls/maid girls/nanny girls/servant boys/servant girls or whatever). They may be the same, often young people, and they have to wear uniforms (like black skirt, white blouse and black high-heeled shoes for girls and black pants, white shirt, black tie and black shoes for boys) and nametags. They have to act like restaurant staff and do the same work (like cleaning, serving, dishwashing or whatever their employer requires them to do), but they work in their employers home and live in small rooms there, just like other domestic workers.
  • It's hard to come up with an average because it varies so much depending on the establishment and the shift and probably the region and other things. I've been a waitress in Toronto for about 8 years and I can make between $50 and $200 plus wages, it just depends on the shift. I guess I usually make around $100. Oh, and wages are less than minimum wage. "Liquor servers" are exempted from the normal minimum wage, which I think sucks.
