  • Your first cousin's children are your first cousins once removed.
  • The terminology seems to vary from place to place and the terms once-removed, twice-removed, etc., are not used everywhere. The only time I have ever heard them used - I live in Canada - is when people ask: "What does once-removed and twice-removed mean?" My cousins' children are my second cousins; their children are my third cousins.
  • I live in Canada as well. The poster above is correct - your cousin's children are your first cousins, once removed. Your children & your cousin's children are second cousins. It doesn't matter what terminology is used, the relationship itself doesn't change. A mom, mum, mama is still a mother, no matter what you call her! It's the same with cousins.
  • Is it possible for a man to actually become his own Grandfather?!?
  • I agree, cousins' children are spoken as my second cousins, their children are my third cousins ... this knowledge was taught to me by my "Southern" Parents and Grandparents! Keep in mind, folks were not "Politically Correct" back then!?! :)
