Discs don't write, they are written on, but the answer to your question is, "yes." The two systems write DVD discs in different ways. Both will play on common DVD player. If you are concerned, you can get a combo DVD burner that writes to both discs.

I miss VHS! DVDs seem to have a lifespan of about 1 year max in my house (thanks, kids). Is there anything you can do to make DVDs last longer?
