  • Play board games.
  • My Dad's parents go bootscooting and ride their bikes. They're both approaching seventy, but they're in better shape than I am.
  • I go windsurfing, go to restaurants, come on Answerbag, do home improvements and decorating, visit friends, have dinner parties with friends, develop database applications, etc, etc, etc - and all without the benefit of an incontinence pad.
  • My parents are generally busier than I am. They do things around the house, go out with friends, travel, spend time with their grandchildren (My mom is at the zoo with my son right now.)
  • I'm getting there but don't rush me:-) Don't know where you draw the line at old people, but I'll talk about my in laws and parents and folks I know. They usually had hobbies before they retired so now they can spend more time doing what they love like gardening, hiking, birdwatching, sewing, fixing cars, traveling, woodworking, etc. Some still haven't retired and love to work. Some volunteer and help others. One man I know loves to run his tractor and still puts in full days at it. He's in his early 70s. Another friend of ours is 85 and he loves to work part time at a hardware, lumberyard because he loves building things but can't do as much now. Until she got dementia, my MIL loved gardening and keeping chickens. She loved going backpacking with us and crosscountry skiing. She did this till she was 84 years young. Her husband fixed, sold and used ham radios, talking to people all over the world. I find most older people to be really busy and the more active they stay the less likely their minds and bodies give out. Use it or lose it!
  • When I was a kid I thought anybody over 40 was OLD! I'm 41 so I guess that means me. Okay, so I usually start my day by changing the diaper of my 1 yr old (us old folks toss in our sleep...that's how my wife got pregnant.) Then I get my 5 yr old ready for school, then it's off to work for 8-10 hours, then it's home to feed, bathe, play and put to bed the larvae. Then I clean up, get on AB for 3.8 seconds and get into bed. What spare time??!?
  • Read Exercise Play games Browse the net
  • I always saw them as driving themselves to Bingo and walking around the mall. I don't really know!
  • What is considered old these days? I know people in their 70s that live much more active lives than todays teenagers. Maybe you could ask Sir Edmund Hilary how he passes his time. I am sure his reply would be very enlightening
  • Play bowls and buy cat food.
  • If you're talking about people old enough to have retired from their jobs, then it's all spare time, right?.....wrong! Most of the 'retired' people I talk to say they get so involved with different things after they retire they're more active than they were while they were working, raising families, etc. I guess the difference is it's things they want to do, as opposed to things they have to do.
  • Moan, drive at 20mph in the middle lane, go shopping on a Saturday when it's really busy with workers who can only go at a weekend, yet they've got all week!ONLY JOKING...mostly they're sweet, thoughtful and have some interesting stories, well that's my grand parents! :)

  • Well my grandma is 90 years old and all she does is terrorize the rest of the family by rolling over us with her wheelchair and I am so not kidding.
  • Bitch and complain. That's their MOST fun activity. Not all, but some.
  • Volunteer Take time to talk and listen. Garden Cook Read Work on Jigsaw puzzles all of which help make a decent life
