How can I convert an internal hdd to an external hdd without losing any data?

    If this is an ATA or IDE type drive it is easy. If it is SCSI it is more expensive. If it is SATA, maybe.

    Just put your drive in a compatible external enclosure and connect it to your USB, FireWire or SCSI port (depending on enclosure or adapter) and when the computer boots it should recognize the drive and give you access to the data thereon provided the drive was formated with the same (or compatible) system you are booting on the computer. You might have to change some system settings or add a driver (depending on what operating system you use) to get the system to recognize the drive. If the computer you use can boot off the external drive, you can set it up that way, if not you will need to boot off an internal device.
