About 2 generations. My Husband however (Mormon) can tell you every person in his family as far back as some apes.

We start in Ireland as the decendants of Nial of the Nine Hostages son of King Milesius of Spain who sent the first Celts to Ireland so about 379 A.D. Later we became became Clanna Duigenan (later Digman, Dignan).

back to about 1631,the first dude came over and settled in port royaal nova scotia and then his offspring were all loaded onto ships and tossed out by the british in what became known as the expulsion of the acadians.they became known as the cajuns of louisiana.

Not as far as I'd like to. My grandfather was adopted. Someone told me by blood he is a Baker and not a Forbes, and it was the Forbes' who adopted him. I havent actually put the effort out to find out anything beyond the Bakers as this grandfather is the one the family never talks to and lives on the other side of the country. Maybe I'll give him a call one of these days.

on my maternal grandmothers side, back to the 1600's on my dads side only a few generations

The oldest record my family can find is a relative who died at the Battle of Falkirk in 1298.

The name itself, back to the 1500s or before (old Scottish name); the lineage, I'm stuck in the mid 1800s or so (records during the civil war were not the best)

The majority of my mother's side I traced back to the 1400's. My father's side I have only been able to trace back to the mid 1800's.

not very far..my grandfather was adopted from and indian reservation in montana and the faimly after that was torn apart by alcoholism. Im trying to piece it together..one of the benefits of living amongst so many mormons is their exstensive interest and records of geneology.

On my maternal grandfathers side, 1600's when they came over from France. Grandmother on the same side: 1800's... My paternal grandfathers side is only back to his father and I have nothing further back than that grandmother.

On my mothers side of the family we can go back to around circa 1540. On my fathers side of the family we can go back to around circa 1780. Both family trees are in published books. Very interesting :)

I can go back to 1740 with definite paperwork to back it up. That is on my father's side. I am only starting to work on my mother's side, but am already back to 1865
