  • It sounds like an abscess - which is where the cat has been bitten or scratched by another cat and has gotten an infection. The swelling is pus forming beneath the skin - pus is made up of white blood cells trying to fight the bacteria. Abscesses can appear overnight - our cats used to get them quite often. You need to get your cat to a vet before the infection spreads or the abscess 'pops'.
  • It could be an abcess as the other poster stated, or a swollen gland or bad tooth? I would have the vet check him out, before whatever it is gets infected..
  • Infection or cancer. Vet visit, don't wait until cat cannot eat!
