  • I think they stay for good. I've seen questions on here from years ago.
  • Answerbag is primarily an information database. Some useful questions were asked in the very early days, and as a result, it would be wise to keep them here. They stay here forever. You can even find the very first Answerbag question if you search hard enough
  • As long as AB exists, AND you can find topics discussed on AB through a Google search.
  • I would imagine they stay on forever, so that people can always refer back to them. That's half the idea, isn't it? To have a wealth of information that people can search on, not just to answer new questions?
  • Yes. The question isn't a dupe/spam/offensive or nonsense so there's no reason it would be deleted. Questions don't ''close'' on AB which is what helps to make it a great site.
  • Qestions and answers become a part of the data bank and they will remain even if the person leaves. Some questions are over 3 years old.
  • until the Mayan calendar comes to an end in 2012.
  • I believe unanswered questions remain active until they are finally answered at some point in future. Take our world for instance. Aren't we livig with too many unanswered questions? Won't we be willing to wait till someone finds an answer to them? Progress is made this way. Someone wondering about something and going about finding an answer to it. Now we are situated in a better position. We can place our questions for public view. Some questions get answered immediately. For some we must wait for a while before they are answered. But it is always worth waiting for the answer.
  • No they aren't. The hope is that someone will respond when they know the answer. That's why there are links to those Unanswered Questions in each category and subcategory. And they do get answered, many of them as there are quite a few people who make it a point to try to answer a few each day or week. Yes, there are many questions that are junk out there and were allowed to remain by the staff because no question goes expired here. That is one of the main differences between this site and most of the others. Answers are always allowed for every question and no question expires, as well as no duplicates are allowed because no question expires.
  • Everyone deserves to be answered. The unanswered questions take up less room by volume then the answered ones do. The staff are the only ones that can remove questions so I am guessing if they are within the rules they will remain on the site.
  • I'll try again. They stay forever, I think, and no, not wasted space. If you really want to see wasted space look at google and yahoo - storing terabytes of email that will never be read again. or perhaps has never been read even once.
  • Forever.
  • 1) As long as they are not rejected. Questions get rejected as spam/offensive, nonsense or duplicates. Most questions are not rejected and just stay there. For instance, here is the first question: "What is the meaning of life? By Answerbag Staff Asked May 27 2003 12:58PM" http://www.answerbag.com/q_view/1 2) However, in the various lists of questions that you can find, the most recently asked or answered questions come at the top of the lists. So you could say that every time that a question gets an answer,it gets posted at the top of the question list. When it does not get any more answers, no more.
  • as long as answerbag is online and google is supporting it. someone could buy all the questions and answers and then post them on another website.
  • Forever, unless they are marked as nonsense or spam/offensive.
  • For ever and a day :-)
  • Hi Polgara, I'm glad you asked this because I had the same question. As you know, QnA had bandwidth problems when MSFT servers were moved to Canada, and groups of our Q's started to disappear. (That and the 5,000 layoffs put QnA on the chopping block - First quarter earnings were dismal and second quarter even worse. Steve Ballmer wrote about this and it was published in several financial news journals.) One of the things I have noticed here at Answerbag, is that they have paid advertizing on each page, which probably allows them more storage space, among other things!
  • Polgara, they stay open forever. When I had hardly time to be here beause I was trained for new work - I earned a lot of points while being away. When people like an answer of a person, they go to their profile and can read all their questions, click on them and respond. And when you have alot of friends in your friends list, you click on Friend's Q&A on the main page underneath your picture when you have time and pick the ones you can answer nicely. It appears on the Summary (tab)and says in red color New. This entire system is just delightful! Have fun here!
  • Questions remain open forever (at least to this point). They can ALWAYS be answered, which brings them to the home page/new arrivals page.
  • Forever. They don't get locked or resolved like other sites.
  • Questions never expire or close. That is why they don't want duplicate questions posted since you can always answer the original one.
  • Forever and ever and ever.........
  • They remain on and the vast majority remain open on AB forever.
