My last name. I went to school with mostly mexicans and my last name sounds like it could be pronounced with the ez like most hispanic last names like Gonzalez, Ramirez, etc. But it's a totally white last name that ends in (es), it sounds funny, it was kind of the joke at my school. (dont exactly want to give out my lastname on the internet)

Most of my teachers did not pronounce foreign names right, for instance english ones. Their generation had not such a good way of learning foreign languages. Their learning was based more on reading and writing than on speaking. Even some of my english teachers!

    "Wrong."

But seriously, I had a prof once who taught ed. statistics. He was fond of the word "milieu." He pronounced it "may-loo" again and again, which grated on my 19-year-old nerves.

I had a thermodynamics proffessor who pronunced turbine the same as turban. I looked it up and some dictionaries allow for that pronunciation but it just confuses things. If you just pronounce it the way it's written TUR-bine with a hard I than there is no confusion and it also follows the rule of spelling where an "e" at the end makes the previous vowel hard.
