  • It hasn't in California.
  • I think some of the small "locals" are gonna find it hard going :-(
  • You will be able to see more clearly if it has!
  • I dont think so people will adapt and most are providing outside shelter for smokers.
  • In Tempe AZ they are trying to put a 20ft distance from entrance of building, but I think that is stupid.
  • Hopefully it'll do the reverse, or at least stop killing people inside the pubs.
  • No, not at all. Where else will we go to play darts now laddie.
  • No it wont. I live in Norway and smoking has been baned inside buildings for longer than I have lived here. I am english so know all about the pub culture there :) I have also spent 3 months in california, 2 weeks in New York and a few long weekends in Dublin, all of which have the same ban. It is the general opinion that the ban is a VERY good thing! People can go out and have a really good night and get home and only need to worry about the smell of stale beer and that garlic sauce that leaked off the 3am kebab instead of the 20000 cigaretes that were smoked within their immediate vacinity! It might effect some places at the start, but by chirstmas it will be back to normal.
  • I hope so. If it does, maybe the public and the pub owners will discover their atrophied testicles and stand up for their rights as owners of the property. What's the next freedom they will take away? Coffee? Lollipops? The right to choose the colour of your own socks? With the ban in place, every public eating, drinking, or entertainment place will be the same as a children's party room.
  • I think so... There are some things that should be left well alone.
  • It hasn't in my area, in fact it has helped them. They were all up in arms before the ban got passed, but actually it allows more people, those who have lung conditions, to join in the fun. You can't exactly hang out in smoky places if you have asthma, emphysema, pulmonary hypertension, lung cancer, etc. So they actually draw in more customers once smoking is banned.
  • I doubt it. The concept offered by pubs and bars is way too ancient to be abandoned for a smoking law, even if it's freezing people will still go outside. It might nick the business somewhat, but let's also remember that not everyone who goes to a pub is a smoker, even if they're outweighed by the majority.
  • It hasn't where I live, and now we go out to them more often because now we can actually breathe in them.
  • It didn't kill 'em in California, initiated almost a decade ago, if memory serves.
