  • Well, it's not going to change. At least, not quickly. And for any major changes it will require a war. If you don't like where you live you CAN change it. Why be stuck miserable in a place you hate when you can move somewhere else that more fits your bill? I don't think to say "Well get out then" was really apropriate, but on the softer side of the same message: It's your CHOICE. Live where you want to live. If you want it bad enough, you'll make it happen.
  • No I dont necessarily believe this is true. I think the second option would be trying to change the things you don't like about it. For instance I don't like the way the Bush administration is running things. That doesn't mean I should have to leave, just vote. It's called democracy.
  • I think that if they don't like something about it, you should tell them they should do something about changing it or shut the hell up.
  • My fiance's brother has a friend who is Mexican. He is constantly putting American women and men down. So much that it is part of his every day conversations. I looked at him when we were grilling out a couple years ago after he had said there were too many Americans around where he lived and said.. you know.. that would be like me going to Mexico and going " where did all of these Mexicans come from?!!". He laughed but I think he has a deep prejudice against Americans and blames America for the poor conditions in the areas of Mexico he has lived. I really do not understand because he says he will never move back to Mexico and likes his life here but either he has been shown a lot of prejudice from Americans over here .. or he has a deep pain for having had to move from his home due to the poor conditions that it just has him bitter? Not sure.. but we put up with his attitude because he is a good guy and we really do not know what it has been like for him. We hope that in time things will get better. He has been here for ten years and slowly but surely he is mellowing out. Most of his family is there and I think it weighs on him heavily, the differences in their lives. I think he feels guilty but he wants better for his children.
  • I don't think that. I don't like America, but I think that it's the best place to be. Everywhere sucks.
  • no. but I do think they have a responsibility to work for a change, as opposed to just bitching.
  • No I don't. I'm not American but I think the same concept applies to citizens of any nation. If someone doesn't like something about their country, they shouldn't have to leave. People should be allowed to make their own decisions not be pushed to doing something because of their opinion. Some people may dislike the country but they may also want to work to change it for the better and I think this is a far more positive way of going about it, regardless of the scale of impact one individual can have. I think anyone who can't think of a single thing they dislike about their country is loving in a dream world. Every country has faults, non are perfect, and that includes the western developed nations. If someone feels it is necessary to leave the country, on a personal level then they should not be prevented from doing so. However no one should be forced or even feel compelled to leave. What makes a country? In my opinion it's the people. In America more than any other nation I can think of so much value is placed on patriotism, loving one's country. I don't think that it is important. If someone is in a country and making it a better place why should they be criticised if they don't like the state of things? Improvement is a good thing and I think it is worse to be blind to a nation's problems than it is to recognise them openly. So in summary, no they should not 'get out'.
  • No I don't think they should get out. That type of person would only say the same wherever he was, substituting the name of a different country and we don't want them either, we've got enough of our own.
  • Any one who preaches that clearly has no idea what they are talking about. The USA is built upon the freedom to express your opinion. Rebellion is the mother of this country. He or she sounds like a fascist to me.
  • What bothers me is when an immigrant bad mouths this country, specially when they are on welfare and collecting food stamps while the rest of us work our butts off to have taxes taken out of our paychecks to support them. If their country was so great then why the hell did they come here in the first place? In cases like that I really do feel that they should go back! Sometimes people are just very ungrateful.
  • If all you want to do is bitch and complain about ANYTHING and do nothing about it, I will probably say anything to get away from you and/or make you stop. If you truly hate it wherever you live, you SHOULD be considering your options, but it's NOT MY PLACE to tell you to get out.
  • Why would you want to live in a place you don't even like? Either do something to change what you don't like, shut up, or leave, but constantly spouting negativity helps no one.
