I don't think you can reasonably expect the human emotion of love to translate to any animal. Cats or dogs might think of you as part of their pack, or might recognize you as the provider of food or engage in grooming activities with you but superimposing "love" on to these activities is, IMHO, anthropomorphic.

well the flowers are a hint and the presents for no reason then I come home to a clean place & good food also the little love note in my lunch or work pockets are helpful. but most of all... cleans out own litterbox.:) thats love from a cat!
-
when she come to me and rubs up aganist me and lets me rub her tummy.
-
If you draw your eyes off a cat and it does it back that is it telling you that it loves you.
-
When they run up to you and smell your toes with their cold nose.

1) She comes to get me at bedtime if I stay up too late and 2) She let me hold her over her litter pan (and actually used it!) when she had a broken leg and couldn't hold herself up.

They follow me around the house... Sleep with me every night... Greet me at the door when I get home... lay on my lap when I sit down... lay on the book that I am reading... talk to me... "meow mow meowy wow"... I can just tell that they do.. :o)

I do not know about all cats. I have had three. My last cat before the one who lives with me now, used to bite me on the corner of my head. I can tell you that i did not feel loved by that. After he did it, i, of course, would turn quickly and indignantly to look at him, and he would be looking at me with, what looked to me, like absolute love. He had already been fed and watered, and seemed to want nothing other than to meet eyes.

In many ways. I can't tell you about your cats, but I can tell you what some of my cats have done over the past 20 years. They purr on your lap, they fight to lay on you, they bring you dead animals as gifts (really gross, but to a cat, it's a big deal.) When they put their tail straight up in the air, it means they have great affection for you. I've had cats that will lick me like dogs, follow me from room to room, just sleep on my lap. My cat will lay on my computer desk while I'm online and slowly put her paw to my face and 'grab' my so I'll give her a kiss and then she'll rub her face all over mine (another sign of great affection. Most cats don't do that). Or when they jump on you and do what I cal' "the happy cat foot dance" where they just knead you (hurts if they have claws). All in all, if your cat loves you, believe me, even if it's just laying on your head or face at night, they'll let you know, and every cat is different.

Well i have Hhad lots of cats but none have lasted more than 3months:( except one:) my first cat. I found her with her two sisters in the garbage, some crule man had left them there:( so i desided with m parents to take care of them. they must have been a few weeks old they were tiny. in the begging they were afraid of me and they would stare at me while they were hiding in tree. unfortunally i found one of my three cats been driven over by a car, it was a very sad day. i would leave them milk at the garden and watch them. Then a few months later another on left:( i was left with the ugliest of the three :P. exactly one year of feeding her and trying to get her trust she finally came inside my house for a few seconds i touched her and then she ran back outside. from that day everything changed she would come inside my house every day meow to me for food. Now she coming close to her 10 years( she old fleebag now:P) and i know that she adores me. She follows me all around the house if she isnt in her basket, she will come running to me when she hears the car. She sometimes bring me presents half eaten mice and birds. she lyies next to me when i am watching a movie she will sit on my keyboard(she is doing it right now) sit on my studing books asking for attention. I cant imagine whow my days will be without her big brown eyes staring at me:(. ok enough talking of my cats story the way to know if your cat(s) loves is: 1. she doesnt stop following you 2. bring you presents 3. attacking other animals to "protect" you. my cat attacked a bulldog once and she nearly killed herself:P 4.she straightens her tail when she sees you and rubs herself on you. If she rubs her face on yours or licking you that means theres something special going on 5.she gives you love bites i think these must them probably i have forgoten some.

I have 6 beautiful cats and they all express their love differently. Our Tom cat Bruce brings us dead mice and leaves them on the door step - Yummy Our other cats stick their tail up when they see you and it quivers and they make little "bling" noises like a telephone. Mostly they rub on your legs, face and occasionally nibble your fingers or ear. My female cat squints at me when I am talking to her and makes the most adorable noises. I swear shes saying "I love you too".

She lays all over your clothes, so you smell like her.
-
if she 'talks' to you, rubs against your legs, rubs her chin on your face, closes her eyes while you are in the room, brings you dead vermin (or live vermin) or stares at you - thats kitty love
-
She actually KISSES me..:)
-
He purrs almost all the time we are together. He gives me little love nibbles on my chin and cheeks. He gets that squinty look in his eyes when I'm looking at him or talking to him. He lets me rub his belly, plays fetch with me, and makes those brrr high pitched noises to get my attention.
-
She brings me small woodland creatures.
-
When she rubs her side of her face ( scent glands) on you she is saying she likes you and marks you as her territory . When she blinks with both eyes and closes them and then opens right away she is giving you kisses.
