  • I'm sorry I disagree, there is a stupid question, the one that is not asked. I believe that people ask questions (even seemingly stupid ones) because they really do not know or do not understand. And those who usually ask a "stupid" question usually just do not know how to the ask the question they are really seeking. An Idiot (in my books) is one who knows a thing but remains stupid or pretends ignorance - or is one who is capable of learning but willfully refuses. An Inquisitive idiot is one who asks the same question expecting a different answer, or who refuses to learn.
  • "The only stupid question is the one that isn't asked" "there are no stupid questions, just stupid people who don't ask questions", et cetera. Spare the platitudes, there are stupid questions and lots of them. Just because a question is stupid doesn't make it inherently bad. If someone asks a stupid question, that is to say a question where the answer is common sense to the average person (ex. "I picked my nose and something came out, do I have AIDS?"), it just means that the questioner is stupid - not bad. For all we know the questioner is trying to better himself. Doesn't make it any less stupid, though.
  • If a question is based on a false premise, then it is a stupid question and not just an ignorant one.
