The modern day papacy has come light years from what they were in the middle ages. Many popes throughout history were extremely corrupt. That does not tarnish the Pope's image or authority, just the human beings who had the audacity to claim the title. The modern day Pope's have been beyond reproach as far as their personal lives are concerned.
Not all Popes become saints, and popes are not non-sinners. He goes to conffession once a week.
The pope is nether Catholics belive he will be juged just like any other human being. Just like the Aposels themselves.
He's a duly elected figurehead. I respect him because it must have taken a lot of something to get to the top. Whatever it was, kudos.
All human beings are sinners including the Pope.
Some sinners (like the Pope) are also saints. Saints are people in heaven or on their way to heaven. All Christians dead and alive are saints.
I respect every human being, every sinner, and every saint (including the Pope) because all were created in the image and likeness of God.
I also respect the Pope because God selected him for a very special job, the most senior pastor of the Church of Christ on Earth.
With love in Christ.
Nothing. He is a human being at the top of an empire and highly political and powerful with money and control over millions of people by using the techniques of relgion. It is all in the name of a poor carpenter called Jesus Christ.
we are all humans there is no such thing as a "non sinner" so I would respect him more if he was just truthful that bad things run thru his mind.
I do respect the Pope. I also respect the leaders of other faiths.
The Pope is the leader of the universal ("catholic") Roman Catholic Church and is the Bishop of Rome. He is both a spiritual leader and a political leader (in charge of the city-state of Vatican City). Considering that there are about a billion Catholics in the world, he has a pretty big job.
Popes are not expected to be perfect, as they are only human. As spiritual leaders, when they speak ex cathedra, they claim infallibility when they speak on doctrinal matters. The last time a Pope claimed to be speaking "infallibly" on faith or morals was in 1950. A Pope should, however, do his best to live a good and moral life and be a spiritual role model for Catholics.
I am often saddened when people who know very little about the details of a religion make fun of its beliefs. You can't really "know" a faith until you have lived it. Generally, people who speak negatively about a faith or a bona fide spiritual leader are just ignorant of that faith.
Naw, After sitting down with All the leaders of All the religions of the world...
Naw not really....dont think Christ woulda done it.
Ostensibly
I don't respect him. I think it's stupid that people have to pray through somebody. Why can't they pray directly to God? I don't get Christianity at all...
I don't respect the pope anymore than I respect any preacher who thinks he is God.
Actually, he's no more or no less than you and me. He'll be standing in judgement just like everyone else.
He's only human.
I don't always respect the pope. The last one I did respect was Pope John XXIII. I respect the position as the head of the church. The pope may or may not be a sinner as he is only a person. I think the ones I have seen try hard to do their job, but they fail, in my opinion, when they do not say what is their personal belief and what is Christ's.
I respect the man as a person. His title means nothing to me and no he is not a saint and yes he is a sinner.
