Yes, one of the great things with Vista is the fact it is backwards compatible with everything that works on XP (atleast it is supposed to be!)

Lately I hear tiny beep when I try to access the HD. It doesn't access. I try again and it does. The screen freezes up or the cursor stops.

Microsoft Mail. "Message could not be displayed" and will not allow permanent delete from delete pile. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Thankyou very much! Im scared of putting it on incase i cannot do the same functions, but even if not im sure il find a way of practising them. Will all my data on xp including my documents be lost in instaling vista or should i give it a separate partition?

I thought it would be, installed it after backing up all I had (took 4 dvd+r's) and yet when it was installed and verified all the info was still there!
If I were you, I would back all I needed up and then instal it, just incase it wipes the hard drive.
