For an Australian Summer, there is a whole slew of aussie rock that's perfect for it - but I've found that the song that captures the mood best is "In the Summertime" by Thirsty Merc

i think i'll go with early 60's beach boys. songs like barbara ann and wouldn't it be nice... it's not so much about the lyrics, it's the complex vocal harmonic structure against the simple music behind it. ahh, good times.

My favourite "Summer" song has got to be Tropicalia, by Beck. Apart from that, I don't really have much music for summer, although most of the songs on the album Green, by R.E.M., also evoke summer very well to me for some reason.

Justin Timberlake, Hellogoodbye, Daft Punk, and DJ Tiesto all make me feel GREAT in Summer. Especially Tiesto's "In Search of Sunrise" compilations.
