  • A lot of newer vehicles are wired so the fuel pump shuts off after a few seconds when the oil pressure sensor detects low oil pressure. They do this as a safety precaution so that it does not damage the engine. You may have a genuine oil pressure problem, or it could be just a bad sensor. There is no way for me to tell from behind my computer. You will need to have the actual engine checked for oil pressure and if it checks out okay, then the sensor will need to be replaced. Unfortunately, if it isn't the sensor, you may have a very costly problem on your hands and you should weigh your options carefully after getting an estimate for repairs.
