The only choice, is to have a friend rent the apartment, in their name and their good credit and you be named, on the lease, to live there. you will pay the monthly rental fee and you will not let your friends good name be tarnished. if you do not make the timely monthly rental payments, your friends credit rating will suffer. first, i hope you have a friend that will grant you this wish. second, if you are so lucky to have such a friend, please protect your friends good credit. Having developed a bad credit rating, eliminates most of the good things in life for you, that are based on credit. you are experiencing this today as determined by your question. if you believe you cannot protect your friends good credit, in this situation, don't ask and leave it alone.

There are other avenues for those with bad credit (I am in this group too) or less the good credit. What you may consider, is a site called "Craigslist" there's housing sections which are suited to many tastes. Of course, there's rental agencies, but also individual landlords (This is how I got my place) who will rent with no credit check, or if they do one, you can offer to up the deposit. In my case, after I moved in, he did have me sign a lease. However, I looked it over and it's on a "Month to Month" basis and that's good for me more then for him. BUt it's a quiet home (No parties) and the rent is affordable. So, look at that or some of the small "Nickle Ad" type papers. Many places are being offered, it's always a "First come-First served" deal.
