My vet says I should give my dog a job to do. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what job I should give him?

i think the dog should call the men in white coats to collect the vet. I would suggest the dog asks them to also take you also

Keep track of your financial accounts? No seriously, maybe he needs the excercise: take him out for regular walks, play catch with him, that sort of stuff, I guess.

Is he a breed of dog that is a working dog? Maybe he means he was bred to do a job "hunting, herding whatever" and that he needs to do something similar to that to be better behaved or happy. That doesn't mean you have to go buy a herd of sheep, but you can do something to similate that sort of behavior. (Herd the cats, herd the kids...)

What kind of dog? Herding dogs like to work sheep or ducks. SOme of them excel at agility. Wokring dogs have lots to do, even if its carrying a pack, it makes them think they are working. Try it when you go for a walk. If yuhave a water rescue dog take them swimming. Retrievers love fetching. Dogs with good noses are fun to do tracking exercises with. And there is carting for larger dgos. They could even pull a smallload for you from the store.

border collie lab cross sounds like a pretty muscular ,powerfull dog, make a harness for him and attatch it to a wagon or sled depending on the season,to give your kids some fun and the dog some exercise.
