  • Yes you can. It will weaken you immune system so much that you will have less white blood cells in your body and effect the activity of the remaining white blood cells. Your body will also have less growth hormones. They say if you only sleep 4-6 hurs a night you are 3 times more likely to die. And rats that are sleep deprived die within 2-5 weeks from weakend immune systems.
  • Yes you can. Sleep deprivation is one of the best methods of torture because it puts the body under immense stresses. lack of sleep can, within a short time, kill you.
  • Yes, you can die if you do not sleep. Your body will be put under a ridiculous amount of stress, not to mention your brain. The brain basically arranges itself when you sleep; this is why dreams occur. It must organize all the thought processes, both consious and subconsious, that may have occured throughout the day. If you don't sleep, you cannot dream and eventually, if you go completely without sleeping, you can become disorientated, histerical, experience hallucinations and eventually die. It takes approx. 10 full sleepless days in order for death to occur.
  • yes you can die. the reason? lack of sleep :) but the real reason? weakend immune system -as galeanda said.
  • people say that people die in their sleep. it just means that no one was in the room when they died. the person may have woken up for a moment and then died. It could have been a terrible moment, not being able to breathe, or feeling your heart stop, or a bad dream gone real. The heart stopping is the most often cause of death. When a person falls and slams into the concrete floor, and breaks every bone in his body, its his heart that determines life, and if it stopped, then the guy isnt going to make it. i had a friend who got sick and inhaled his vomit. his heart stopped for forty five minutes. the doctors managed to clean out his lungs and get his heart restarted and he can now breathe on his own. he just doesnt have a brain to go with his body. his brain died in that short time when his heart wasnt pumping blood. so the guy died, and got brought back, but his brain got left behind.
  • Yes and it's the best way to go.
  • Yes. Many people do and many more would like that to be the way they go. You don't just die for no reason though. People who die in their sleep will have a pre-existing condition (though it is possible that they don't know about it) or be elderly. But yeah, if you have a heart attack or something equally catastrophic in your sleep then you can die and be asleep when it happens.
  • Yep, happens all the time
  • well its never happened to me personally but I have known a few people to have checked out this way.
  • yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa duhhhhhhhhhhh
  • well i think you can, because while you're sleeping your body parts feel relaxed, so oxygen can easily be separated from your body.
  • Perfect way to go A! +5
  • Yes, most people lose consciousness of their surroundings before they die. However when you are sleeping your body is in a more relaxed state so death is less likely from just being asleep but the illness which causes the death could induce a deep sleep prior to passing away. Death in hospitals is most common at around 3-7am and 4.30-5.30pm and sometimes across lunchtime for some reason. This could be to do with the patients body clocks. The first being result of not being able to sleep due to illness - however after 7am body clock says waking up time so its less likely. Around lunchtime and dinner time patients bodys are more likely to expect a meal.
