  • If they never stop long enough for me to have to say something back, it really takes the pressure off. I can tune them out and not worry that they'll expect me to respond.

  • I tend to talk a lot but I am mindful of that and try to give my friends an equal chance to talk. My best friend says she likes listening to me and encourages me to talk even more. I guess it's a matter of personal preference.

  • I extract myself as soon as I can. Nonstop talking (NOT the same as talking a lot) is rude and suggests a need to compensate for something. Nonstop talking makes the listener feel as though she/he isn't even there. Talking a lot is another thing. People who have a lot to say but who give the other guy a turn now and then are fine with me. My mom-in-law was a chatty sort, but she always remembered things I said. Nice lady.
  • Yes. I know those types. I have a grandmother who can turn a five minute chat into a half-hour-long conversation. Never get her on the phone. Your ear won't feel the same.
  • yeah... but i try to realize that even i am guilty of it too... people that are rambling on tend to annoy me but i suppose that I annoy myself sometimes with my own rambling... who am i not to listen to them when i know they are just longing to converse/teach, however boring their teachings may be

  • I DO get frustrated when someone talks incessantly -- but the solution is simple -- someone needs to start a 12 step program called Onaonanonymous!
