Yes, there are OTC meds for that. http://www.walgreens.com/search/search_results.jsp?_dyncharset=ASCII&term=azo&x=12&y=8&gclid=CP-5qPKNoowCFSgRGgodi3RF6w
check with your pharmacy and drink lots of water! at least one glass every hour to start cleansing.
You should also try drinking cranberry juice regularly. It helps the urinary tract immensely, in my experience.
I wouldn't experiment with this -- UTI can leave scars that make urination difficult -- if you have a Chinese pharmacy nearby, they have something, but I don't know what it's called... in future -- make sure you drink more water -- I had a g/f who got over chronic UTIs just by drinking water more regularly (and less other kinds of beverages).
AZO tablets and cranberry juice
I chug a big jug of Cranberry Juice, even the regular run of the mill Ocean Spray Cranberry drink. Works for me every time. Just drink as much of it as you can, but not less than one of the 1/2 gallon jugs. Hope you feel better soon.
You can try cranberry juice, but watch your blood sugar if you do it. Be advised that a UTI can become serious if it involves your kidneys. If it doesn't clear up pretty quickly or you have pain in your back, get to a doctor and take the antibiotics, but take a probiotic with it.
I have been trying to remember what herbals are claimed to be effective against UTI's. Now I remember: dandelion tea.
I looked up some over the counter products as well:

cranberry juice and water will help, but will not cure it. An UTI needs meds, sry but that's how it is. They can be real trouble to your health if not treated properly. Speak to your doctor and inform him of the issue, if he doesn't have a solution, ask a different doctor. A yeast infection is uncomfortable but a UTI can be serious.
Absolutely!! I have had chronic UTI's for ages, almost put me in the hospital. Antibiotics were not working.
I finally concocted myself a little pill cocktail: 3000 mg of Vitamin C per day (1000mg 3 times a day), and a GOOD quality cranberry pill (if it has vitamin C in it too, even better.)
Do NOT drink anything except water. Avoid hot sauces, citrus fruits and chocolate. Continue this until well after the UTI feels gone. Then slowly ease off the vitamin C, but keep taking about 1000 of it a day plus the cranberry pill to prevent them. Always pee before and after sex.
For naysayers: I've already cleared this with my doctor, and he said there is NO harm in taking vitamin C for UTI's and that it WILL cure it.
I gave my sister cranberry tea and honey worked great!!
You can try CranActin by Solaray.

You're reading Is there something over the counter that can be used to clear a mild urinary tract infection? Antibiotics always give me a terrible yeast infection.
