  • if you change the word GOD to NATURE, you get a much better outcome...
  • Not as WE see fit, but under His authority. It is the rejection of that authority that leads to the misuse of the creation he put us in charge of. There is no doubt that marijuana has medicinal qualities, but most people do not consider those, instead using it for personal pleasure alone. No matter the consequences.
  • Okay so I see your train of thought... G-d made nature, nature made marijuana. It's illegal. So that's why people find it morally wrong. If it was legal... I'm not sure there would be such a fuss.
  • He grew the apple tree too and it was forbidden, but why?
  • Marijuana is not a moral issue, there is absolutely nothing "Morally" wrong with it apart from the fact that it is illegal. "Illegal" and "Wrong" are not synonyms, perhaps they are closely associated because so many Western governments are or try to be theocracies and define "Right" and "Wrong" by law, but they are not synonymous. Some things happen to be both illegal and morally questionable, i.e. theft, murder, etc. But not all things that are illegal are outlawed because they are morally or ethically wrong, and not all things that are morally questionable are illegal.
  • It's not "wrong" it's illegal, there is a difference.
  • If God wanted to be in a state where you are high like after smoking a marijuana he'd create you like that in the first place. Second, not all created especially after the fall of mankind is good for mankind [i.e. poisonous mushrooms, herbs, fruits, roots, etc] I think Satan mixes up the Word of God to deceive people thinking all is allright.
  • Is it wrong to smoke pot? Who says? Just because it''s illegal doesnt make it wrong. In the past, it was illegal to, I quote "be seen on the King's highway with a sooty face". I'm going back a long way there, but; It was a law, but NOT morally wrong. Therefore, what some guys in suits say is unnaceptable, is not always so. Do not believe every word people try to feed you, an work things out for yourself; take your own position, and make yourown decision. Lecture over.
  • Because it's not wrong, it's just illegal right now because it's still seen as a drug as oppose to an herb. What gets me is how Alcohol (which kills and destroys the lives of hundreds of people annually) is not ilegal and Marijuana (never killed anyone) is illeagal. Very interesting.
  • Well just because a plant grows, that doesn't mean that we should injest it. Eucalyptus grows, should we injest it? How do we know that God gave us pot to smoke? I mean, there could be another reason for its existence that we haven't even discovered yet.
  • Pot grows naturally as a weed. It is only in the last century the federal authorities have pushed to make it and keep it illegal. First by requiring unconstitutional tax stamps, then by adding it to the DEA schedule of drugs. The question one must ask is "can a leaf be a drug?" It grows without outside assistance. It doesn't have a little voice saying, "Eat me! or "Smoke Me!" Why punish this poor little misunderstood weed? On the more serious side, the legislation which created such a backlash came forth as a side effect of the failed prohibition of liqour. If people couldn't drink to get high, they'd find a different, legal way. Also Rascism and bigotry came into play since pot was considered a "colored" drug since so many Jazz and Blues musicians used it. Furthermore, many Mexican laborers brought the smoking habit with them at the turn of the last century and when the great depression hit in 1929 it was a way for our great country to put those who didn't go back to Mexico in jails. These are facts. Do a little research and you'll find minorities throughout the south (including Texas) getting life sentences in the 30's and 40's for possessing this harmless weed. Good luck.
  • If being stoned makes you think that stabbing people or killing them is a funny idea, it's time to lay off the pot. If being stoned makes you ignorant of the pain of others, its time to lay off the pot. The best way to find out is to stay straight while all your friends are stoned. There is no 'Thou shalt not smoke'. There is no 'Thou shalt not drink'. But if people start doing hurtful things while under the influence, and choose not to change their ways, they sure as hell shouldn't expect the rest of us to pick up after them.
  • It makes me paranoid and delusional so I don't smoke it but, I can't think one single good reason why it should be considered "wrong" to do.
  • I totally agree and to answer your question, I feel that the only reason pot is illegal is due to the government not having the ability to make money from it. If the government chose to legalize pot for all who wanted to smoke it, sold joints in a box the same as cigarettes and they could tax it... they would do it! I do not smoke pot, but I know many who do! Personally, I do not see how pot affects anything they do in their daily lives!
  • I don't want to get into a debate about if smoking pot pot is bad or not. But I do want to answer the question in the text that it was asked. God also gave us common sense. He also gave us poison Ivy and Poison Oak(I don't know why). But I don't think he wants us to smoke it or roll around in it. Don't take me wrong I have done my share of destroying pot in a blaze. But we do have to succumb to the fact that it is illegal(for now). I have seen alot of friends and family lose jobs to random testing.
  • I think his intention on that is... 'weed' should be used to make rope. One day there was a fire on a sailing ship and a coil of hemp rope burned, well everybody on board got higher than the crow's nest.
  • if everybody smoked pot the world would be way more loving and peaceful place to live in,every mistake i have made in my life has been under the influence of alcohol. I have smoked heaps and heaps of pot for over 17 years and not once have i done something wrong because of being irie It makes me creative motovated loving and at peace with nature and other people. I am successful intelligent have two beautiful children and have never regretted being a pot smoker anything in my opinion that opposes pot is hype and cunning propaganda by the satanic elite to help in thier plan to control the world. Hemp and cannabis sativa could actually save our planet dont u think god would endorse that!!!!!!
  • Did god say "tho shall not smoke pot" NO HE DIDNT, even the pope smoke a bit of dope now an again so who cares
  • Its Not bro... The man just tryin to keep us down, thats Why we need to FIGHT!!! We need to link up who with me?!?!?!?
  • If you can handle it, do whatever you want with it.
  • God gave us lots of things. He gave me sexual equipment, but according to the Christian Right, I'm not supposed to use them either. At least not until I have God's permission. Gee, so many rules... trying to keep them straight is just sooooo difficult. Let's see... Can't smoke pot... Can't have sex outside of marriage... Hey! Wait a minute... I don't remember anything like that in the Bible. It was mostly can't kill, can't covet, can't have any other Gods before him, etc. Don't remember the "thou shalt not smoke weed" or the "thou shalt not get down and boogie." I think these Christian Right folks have got it a bit messed up. But you gotta love them... After all, it was Christ himself that said "above all else, treat others as you would have them treat you." Hope this helps.
  • its not smoking dope, its idolizing it and putting it on the "throne of your heart".
  • god also gave us cliffs, doesnt mean we jump off of them :S
  • i have been wondering the same thing... can anyone reference the quote used in the cypress hill song? "all seed bearing herbs and plants are here to use"?
  • If you truely feel that way, then slap some poison ivy, poison sumac, or poison oak in your bong and have at it. Otherwise, feel free to admit you smoke weed because it gets you high and quit trying to justify it any other way.
  • So you say marijuana kills brain cells? Well too much of alcohol destroys liver, and eventually makes your body fail. I know someone who died from alcoholism and its still legal?! Same with cigarettes. My grandma died from lung cancer because addiction to cigarettes. What exactly is the government trying to say when they say marijuana is bad but cigarettes and alcohol isn't.
  • well not only that, but all of the positive potential that cannabis has, both for the environment, and medicinally. many people, including myself, believe that marijuana was the original holy sacrament of many of today's major religions. an insight to this is in Revelations 22:2
  • He gave us Belladonna / Deadly Nightshade is it ok for us all to imbibe that too.
  • well - how do you argue with that logic?
  • i guess you can do as you wish. i try to treat my body as a gift from God with appreciation. i would not go an inhale smoke from a campfire and likewise i would not bring the smoke of burning leaves into my lungs. we are blessed with free will and can make our own moral choices.
  • Isn't there a difference between what was made available to mankind, and what mankind does with it? By the same logic, nature (or God, if you'd rather, although I'm atheist myself) provides plenty of ways to kill people (e.g. poisonous plants, poisonous animals, stones, sharp sticks, tall cliffs) but does that make it right? The Bible's not clear on this point, telling you not to kill and to kill, both within the same book, Exodus.
  • Because man has decided it is against the law. It is more important to God that we obey the law than do pot.
  • So are you going to eat deadly nightshade because God made all plants? OR snack on some Amanita mushrooms, too?
  • Smoking pot is wrong? WHAT!!?
  • Anyone that has smoked pot for any length of time will tell you that it changes you. It makes you see things that others don't can't or refuse to see. I am not referring to hallucinations, for me, it made me more the ME I knew I was inside. It helped me become more balanced. I am what is called an indigo adult. To understand what I have gone through for the last 38 years I refer you to the following: http://www.metagifted.org/topics/metagifted/indigo/adultIndigos/areYouAnAdultIndigo.html I only started smoking pot about a year ago. It has literally changed my life 1000X for the better. For all of you God touting bible thumpers you need to read Thomas Paines - The Age of Reason. Take your time, make sure you understand, then come back and reread your own answers. No, its not wrong to smoke pot, illegal yes, wrong no.
  • but what i dont understand is, how a plant can be a crime. maryjane aint even that bad.their has not been any deaths frm marihuana. and about a couple million frm whacky tabbacky
  • 'Wrong' and 'illegal' are two different things.
  • For some reason, people get upset when I poison my neighbors with belladonna and foxglove, even though that's what I see it as useful for.
  • It kills your brain cells and affect nerve endings in a bad way you dont wanna know. so too much of it is bad for ur health, this is not about God. geezz
  • You remember that god told Adam not to eat the apple from the forbidden tree. Perhaps weed is the devil's way of trying to tempt people to do bad things. Think about it for a while.
  • how 'bout God doesn't exist? He's never been proven, though I know a lot of you believe and that's cool, but since God herself never explicitly told you anything at all, maybe just try to not do any harm to anyone. If you want to smoke pot, just make sure nobody gets hurt in the process, except you. I've smoked a lot of pot in the past. Don't like it anymorw and haven't smoked in at least ten years. Life is no better or worse for having done it. You can do anything you see fit, but the key words are "as you see fit". Make sure your moral compass is working and, most importantly, do no harm.
  • I don't know about God's intention, but I can tell you that alcohol is far worse for you, as are many of the drugs that the pharmaceutical companies push on us. Marijuana is actually quite benign and several mainstream medical studies confirm numerous benefits from this plant. Most people buy the b.s. from the govt about this plant. The only logical reason it is illegal is due to the fact that these drug companies cannot patent it and exploit the financial windfall from it.
  • If the Bible talks about everything in moderation and drinking wine at meals with Jesus, then marijuana, that is from the earth and causes no medical problems can't be wrong. And no shit that poisonous mushrooms aren't good to eat, but they can be beneficial to certain cultures. However, when you smoke a joint you are not poisoned so there is a big difference in your examples.
  • its only wrong cause of the government doesnt want to admit they been wrong all this time about it and cause they havent found a way to control it so that they can make tons of money off of it.
  • Who said He gave it to us “to do with as we see fit”? Consider tobacco, which is “ to be used with judgment and skill” (Doctrine & Covenants 89:8, http://scriptures.lds.org/dc/89/8#4): it obviously has its appropriate uses (for which God intended it), but to claim that He has authorized us to use it any way we darned well please is just putting words in His mouth. HTH!
  • It isn't wrong to smoke pot because god didn't create anything simply due to the fact that he's non-existent.
  • where would you draw the line though? heroin is made from opium poppy - natural cocaine is made from coca - natural the laws vary in different parts of the world dont complain if you get jailed if you want to smoke without getting in trouble go live in AMSTERDAM or become a politician and try pass a law to make pot legal
  • God created poisonous mushrooms. Do we have a right to eat them if we want? I guess we do, but that doesn't make it a wise choice. The main poiunt is that God gave us freedom to make choices. That does not mean that every choice is good. God gave us the marijuana plant. We can choose to make rope from the stem. That is a good choice. We can choose to smoke the buds, which will make us lazy and non-productive, (Trust me, I know. I smokes weed for over 30 years). That is not a good choice. God gave us hemlock. We can use it to make our yards beautiful, or we can make poison tea and kill our neighbor with it. We have a choice, but that doesn't mean that every choice is good in God's sight.
  • dude its drugs drugs=bad instead on risking your health eat some cake or icecream nothing can beat ice
  • hahahaha, jeez, I feel like I struck a nerve,,, 3 comments for my 1. anyway, I know what the question asked, but as an ex-weed-smoker I felt that your previous coments were more anti'weed than just answering the question? I noticed the words you used in your comments so I know you are familiar with the weed smoking population, I was merely reactinging to "We, as a society, consider the use of marijuana for the purpose of getting high to be 'wrong' because of it's effects on the human mind and body" and the society that we live in, you'll notice that i even put "(not you, I'm speaking about the self-righteous anti-smokers)" in my coments, so I don't se why you feel so aggressive in this field, is there something you are not telling us, or do you just want to argue for argueings sake. ....
  • Plants and animals are indeed there to use; I agree but the thing with weed is these days it is mixed with all sorts of other substances and has been experimented on to make it stronger. This opens up a whole new bag of prawns. I was a user and still have the occasional smoke but when i do i feel what it does to me. I get a good high (depending on the quality) but i also get the after effects e.g. intense paranoia and the next day i am always sooooooo tired (Stone-over) then the moodyness etc. Just like everything "god" gave us, we have abused it to make it bad for us. It wasnt intended for every day use. put it this way carrots are good but ya wouldnt eat em every day, along with other natural substances, foods and herbs we consume. True Rastas have the right idea, they only smoke and special occasions and to pray.
