Terriers as a rule are not so much quick tempered, but they are QUICK THINKING dogs. They require a fair amount of activity DAILY in their lives to be happy, emotionally stable and add to being well-behaved dogs. We have a Parson's Jack Russel. Patch had a "bad" start in life and was a rescue by my partner from her Ex husband, who kept the dog in his room ALMOST 24 hrs a day, alone while he was a work, out only for potty trips. So Patch isn't as hyper or outgoing in a forceful manner as most Jacks would normally be! He loves everyone and is very, very NEEDY in temperament. That "other" breed, now is an interesting consideration. I've known SOME who were as sweet a little dog as anyone could ask for. Other's however, were snappy, not safe with children, yippy, and WOULD be frankly delighted to rule the entire home or even the human race in any way that might benefit them. It's not that they were BAD DOGS. The problem is with them being so small and cute...they were not allowed to behave as dogs. They were spoiled, untrained brats, who were allowed to develop unacceptable behaviors from puppy-hood! If you can see the parents and how they behave, that is some indication of the genetic factor you are dealing with. Relaxed, friendly, willing to accept and work with training indicates genetic material in the puppies that SHOULD, with normal human effort and POSITIVE reinforcement in training, result in a happy, lively, excited to learn and do GOOD BEHAVIORS...dog for you to enjoy. ALL dogs are potentially GREAT DOGS...it depends on how much we are willing to support them learning and being successful in doing what we want them to do. I would assuredly spay or neuter this mix...with the size differences that could exist in the bloodline you do not need to risk it breeding with any other dog. Plus there are too many put to death daily...love this one with all your heart, but don't contribute to the problems...be part of the solution!

I have one! He has the best personality ever. I wanted a dog with a lot of energy, and he has it! He is always willing to play with me, and learns very fast. He is well behaved, but I am very consistent with his behavior training and so is my family. He can jump very high and is very smart, so constant supervision is needed while he's still young and he is learning his manners because of this. I am very pleased with my new best friend. That said, I don't approve of breeding with all the sad, caged doggies out there with no best friend to love them. My Jack-Chi was a stray picked up by the shelter, and I was lucky to find him! Search hard and you will find a great dog for you!

We have a jacki-chi, our little junkyard dog. He is named Herbie. He is black and white. Absolutely adorable. He runs so fast, glides through the air like a reindeer. Very loveable, good with our kids. He doesn't like to be bothered much when he sleeps. If you put his harness on he gets so still, he acts funny. He loves to play, doesn't want to give up the toy but once you can get it from him he will fetch it. He loves my husband, very much. He took to him immediately. I was afraid of getting a hyper, yippie dog, but he is not. We love him so much, he is so funny. He will sit with his little legs sideways, he looks so funny.
