  • Locate the top of the iPod mini, find the crease between the colored part and the white area. Use the tip of a flathead screwdriver or a household knife to carefully pry it apart from each other as to not scratch the iPod. After the cover is off, use a small Phillips head to unscrew the tiny screws on both sides of the top. Now, head to the bottom of the iPod and do the same process (it may not have the second screwed cover). There is a clip underneath that needs to be carefully pried off on each corner so that it becomes loose for removal. There is a connector that needs to be disconnected before any other action can be taken. Do this, and then simply push the bottom part out of the colored case so that the insides are released through the top.
  • my suggestion is only open your ipod mini if you absolutely positivley know what you are doing. im guessing you dont because you dont know how to open it.
  • Some specifying details: the white portions do not snap out, they peel off adhesive tape: midway through I'm wondering -- how to reassemble? Describe the clip at the bottom as a spring clip, and describe the opposed circlip-type holes for engaging with either VERY TINY NOODLE-NOSE pliars, or with a very steady hand and a flat screwdriver. Best chance here of impaling your circuit board from below, or tearing that connector. Also, describe the connector itself: orange flexible circuit ribbon which will disengage with gentle outward tug at the squared-off end. He was on the right track, Will. NOW: how do I get the clickwheel loose from a disassembled iPod Mini!?
