    Take your pick-----

St. Athanasius: Doctor of the Church; born at Alexandria, about the year 296, died May 2, 373. Canonized 373, Feastday: May 2; Bishop ; Took an active part against the Arian heresy which denied the Divinity of Christ.
    OR
St. Athanasius: all we know about him is that he was apparently a bishop somewhere and his feast day, January 26, is celebrated in Sorrento, Italy.
    OR
St. Athanasius: Canonized 257, Feastday August 22; Bishop; Martyred by Roman Emperor Valerian
    OR
St. Athanasius: Canonized 452; Feastday July 5; deacon of Jerusalem; Martyr; denounced Theodosius, the heretic who usurped the see of Jerusalem; arrested by Theodsious and beheaded.
    OR

St. Athanasius: Canonized 818; Feastday: February 22; Abbot ; apparently persecuted by Byzantine Emperor Leo V the Armenian over the iconoclast controversy .
    OR
St. Athanasius: Canonized 872; born 830, son of Duke of Naples; repaired Saracen damage to Naples, ransomed Christian prisoners of Muslims; 850 ,at age 20, named Bishop of Naples, denounced immorality of his nephew, Duke of Naples Sergius II, who imprisoned him, attempted to force him to resign see, and looted see of Naples, Pope Adrian II excommunicated Sergius.
    OR
St. Athanasius: Canonized 885; Feastday: January 31; a bishop in Sicily, fled to Greece when Saracens invaded, became a Basilian monk and Bishop of Modon
    OR
St. Athanasius Badzekuketta: Canonized 1886; Feastday: June 3; page in the court of King Mwanga of Uganda and the keeper of the royal treasury. When it was discovered that Athanasius had been baptized, he was martyred.
    OR
St. Athanasius the Athonite: Canonized 1000; Feastday July 5; originally a Turkish monk, aided Byzantine Emporer Nicephoras Phocas in finally defeating Saracens. Rewarded with money to establish monastery at Greek Mt Athos ( thus the Athonite), served as abbot of 58 communities of monks and hermits; a church arch fell and killed him and five other monks.
Apparently having connections with emperors, is an assist in becoming a saint. Though it is kinda dicey, ya never know if you're gonna be persecuted and martyred or rewarded. Denouncing heretics and imoral dukes seems to help too. And being martyred by cannibal kings is is always a sure thing. After celebrating the saint's rather gruesome first feast day, King Mwanga had a case of indigestion, " Man, that Anthanasius was some bad zekuketta!"
