Help answer this question below.

I have a 454 in a gm motorhome it has no power off the line it bogs but when on highway it has fare power but sometimes back fires threw the carb

Try a tune up with a new fuel filter. And/Or the problem could be with the converter(exhaust), this will cause power loss also. As an added bonus, you will get better fuel efficiency all the way around :)
