  • visit plantations. We saw three in one day - Twelve Oaks, straight out of Gone with the wind, tour guides outfitted like Scarlet O'Hara, talking about the glory of the South, then Josephine - tour guides black people, slave quarters still standing, completely different view of the time, very gripping. Then we stopped at a place near Baton Rouge for a late dinner - best lobster bisque I ever had, everything from the decor to the service to the food was splendid. Poking around in the above ground graveyards is interesting for an hour or two. Oh and go on a swamp tour.
