  • What your experiancing is RF feedback. The adapter your using is an RF(radio Frequency) converter, That all consoles predominantly used up until about the PS1/ N64 era. The noise your hearing Is because audio is transmitted cleanly via RCA jacks. And any electro interference present, Which the technology surrounding an RF switch is. Will inherently be picked up and transmitted along with the signal. Now. When playing games this should be a Non issue. Playing DVDs it will be, For 2 reasons. 1 is directly due to DVD encryption that prevents a connection to a VCR/VHS system(via coaxial cable) to be received properly, Invoking "redfade" and RF white noise amplification. 2 Is potentially using non licensed gear, Such as RF converters from 3rd party distributors such as Mad Catz. The stand alone product that Sony produces is the only one on market, that will produce the lowest ammount of excess noise and video distortion. *!*!*!*!Now, There is also a work around in the system itself. Albeit not a complete one. In the system browser. navi to your system settings. View your audio configuration. Adjust the volume between -2 thru +2. Find the setting that reduces the audio to the lowest level you can hear, but not so low, that you cant hear quiet dialouge. Or that you have to turn your TV's volume to max to hear. This will do more for this situation , than anything else, Short of buying an RF Converter box that converts the signals from RCA jacks, instead of via Coaxial, Till its filtered beyond DVD encoding, then it plugs into your cable ready TV.!*!*!*! Hope that helps.
