  • All depends what kinda of Depression? Iam depressed after a split with my girlfriend and the best cure is seeing my mates they make me forgot about my problems and have fun.
  • Well I think you know already that my answer would be meditation, so I'm not going to drop another 10 paragraphs on you about it... still waiting for that photo in "what do you look like?", by the way! :-)
  • I don't think there is a certanity you can cure depression. My natural mother has had it for 30 odd years. For others it's shorter term. You could help yourself by getting counselling through the health authority or privately. You could try herbal remedies like St Johns Wort (but check with medication). We had a similiar discussion yesterday and others suggested exercise which is also beneficial.
  • Sometimes you can overcome it with therapy. Also, some people believe that natural herbs can help you, Like St. John Wort. But depression is often a physiological problem that can't be fixed with out medication to solve the chemical imbalance. I would suggest seeing a doctor so they can help work out what type of depression one has so that the appropriate course can be taken.
  • No to sound like I'm making light of your situation, because everyonce in a while, I get depressed and I go out. Out of my house, away from my city, and go shopping. I almost always feel better just getting away. Plus it's nice to be in my car screaming too.I hope you feel better soon!
  • I experience depression, so to counter depression I do alot of exercise. I find, for me, that long distance running followed by yoga is the best way to beat depression.
  • I think I answered this question once before?? From personal experiance, I have found that medication merely prolongs/delays true recovery. To truely cure your depression, you need to confront your own thoughts as to what is bothering you no matter how much it may hurt and figure out what the trigger is that is causing your depressive feelings. Then find things to do to stay active that won't trigger these feelings. Before you know it, the pain will fade and life will return.
  • depression is a mental illness, no different then a physical illness. Depending on the severity of the depression you need either counseling alone or counseling in combination with medications...rarely should depression be treated with only medication..whether you are talking allopathic or natural medication (remember natural/home treatments are still medications and can and do have all the same potential for side effects and interactions that allopathic medications have)
  • You will not cure depression while thinking about your problem all the time, imagine sitting on a couch all day, thinking about what actually makes you sad, you will eat less, sleep all the time, you will become the couch. Get up, find your self something to doe, take up that challenge that you thought you will never have time for, you will meet new people, life will make sense again, I don’t say forget about your problem, but the saying says a active/healthy body keeps an healthy spirit, stay positive about things and don’t let other people get you to a down time, stay away from negative people, you need positive people in your life. The best is to forgive your self and to make peace with your self, it is called self forgiveness, you will feel better and you will have the energy to get up and to go on. Remember, God will not let something cross your road if He knows you will not be able to cope with it. The Lord is your Sheppard ...
  • Great question sexy....I use twice daily Buddhist chanting (see my profile) which takes my focus onto helping others, and myself at times, for a sure fire pick-me-up (therapist by trade, so I'm no "guy in the diner" on this one) Exercise also enhances endorphins - pleasure chemicals - which I do 5x per week minimum, daily sunshine also helps :)
  • cheerup!
  • Cartoons!!!!!!!!!!
  • Turn your life upside down - do something else, break your routines etc. Turn a couple of stones and see what you find.
  • one half hour of exercise can naturally produce the chemicals in one antidepressant.
  • st johns wort is known to help!! Also exersize
  • It may not work for everyone. But for myself, I found that at long as I keep active in things. Like work or helping others who are in greater need than myself. That is was keeps me going................M.C.S.
  • I personally would start with homeopathy .
  • well i dont think you can 'cure' depression if you are depressed it is an illness but i personally feel that once you have deep depression it will never fully go away. its all about control i was depressed for years and i have never been to the doctors about it. i self harmed for over 5 years and i got over it by falling in love. caring for another person and knowing they loved me helped me get through the other side. yes i have my 'depressed' days where i would do anything to get my hand on a blade, but i try to control the urges by doing something to look after someone, cook clean or do something 'extra' to make you feel better about myself! i feel i will never be cured i will have to control self hate thoughts and suicide and self harm to stop me sinking
  • I'm not sure you can 'cure' depression. Even medications treat the cause and manage it while you are on them. Without the medication, you can't treat the cause, but you can only treat the symptoms, counteract the effects of depression. That seems to be more reactive than proactive.
  • Excercise!! It's one of the most overlooked and underused treatments for dozens and dozens of known diseases, including depression.
  • I have had major depression for twenty years, the majority of it has been livable. However, there are frequent times when all one thinks about is ending it all here. For me, as serious as my feelings to commit suicide are, I have sworn a pact with myself that if I ever find myself actually doing it - that I will call the doctor. SO far - I have not submitted. It is complicated for me by guilt of thinking such a thing in the first place. It is not as simple as "thinking of someone else" and doing something charitable - especially if life has been cruel to you, and no cahritable offerings have been invested in you. However, I also think that by enduring the sickness, that one has a unique perspective on life that many do not see or are even aware of and that time, is as the cliche goes, a great healer. Since time is distance, it seems logical to me that as we travel further away from the source of the pain, the less sensitive we are to those raw feelings of loss. If you came to where you are in your depressive phase by looking inwardly for an answer, it may be a helpful tool to imagine a spiral and questioning oneself causes travel inwards to the centre of the spiral. At which point it represents a decision to make - even if you have not found your personal answer yet. (What is the point of life for example) This represents introspection. If you search for an answer "extrovertly" reversing the search in an ever expanding spiral, there are more opportunities for discovery and a "continuam" that need not necessarily bring you to the same conclusion. Often creative activity is theraputic, or enough of a distraction to get one through another day. I would be willing to discuss further if required, otherwise, presumably you got through that last phase and are not already dead. Well done, Keep hanging in there - No pun intended.
  • Smoke pot.
  • I exercise, mainly run. You will be surprised how much it turns your attitude right side up. I actually think there was a study that getting exercise when you are depressed can have results equal to the average anti depressant pill like Zoloft or something.
  • Smoke pot or find a slut after all sex is great at making you feel better
  • listen to upbeat music or talk to happy people because they say talking to happy people can spead the happiness to you.
  • find your true love...that's what I did
  • IMHO, pills and other fads wont replace that good feeling you had in past..for me, id take a walk to clear my mind, or watch a funny dvd..and amazingly, for some people, chatting with friends online helps to supress those depressed feelings..
  • Usually this...and give points ☺
  • Killing Time!
  • when i feel depressed i refresh myself to involve in my favourite activities ( GOOD ONES)
  • I suffer from severe clinical depression, and while nothing but the passing of time is a surefire way to eliminate depression, there are a few things I've found which will alleviate it. I smoke a pipe, and I've found that occasional indulgence in tobacco helps to moderate the level of depression. In fact, there are studies being done right now testing the efficacy of nicotine as an anti-depressant. The other thing which often helps with my depression is finding an opportunity to work myself into a towering rage. Protests are good for that. The riot cops are wearing armour and shields and helmets, so you're not going to hurt them, and barricades are a good target for howling aggression. You'd be amazed how getting a few batons to the ribs and a blast of pepper spray to the face leaves you bruised but relaxed and mellow later on. The Freudian explanation for depression is rage turned inward, so letting off some steam as a way to alleviate depression makes total sense.
  • talk to my bf!
  • Blast my headphones
  • I take a 3 X 5 card and write down a few things that I want to accomplish during the rest of the day. It's pretty simple. If you're consumed with accomplishing a mission, your mind will be focused on that and not on self-pity or anything that'll depress you. Here's my list for the rest of today. 1. Read Ruth Slenczynska's "Music At Your Fingertips." 2. Work on a few pieces on the piano: a. Ave Maria (Schubert) b. Les Fleurs Sauvages (De Senneville/Clayderman) 3. Shave my head 4. Read Bible 5. Pray
  • Guiness
  • I dunno. A blowjob usually picks me right up! ;-)
  • Smoke pot
  • I took DMAE. I think it really helped me.
