i find that there ar some people out here who think of themselves as the god almighty, who are perfect and sometimes fail to see the context in which the question might have been posted

Because us folks at Answerbag show discontent to one word answers. You need to elaborate on why you have answered yes or no
-
They are accustomed to long drawn out answers (or they give long drawn out answers). If they want elaboration they should add the simple word of "why?"... that is then an indicator that they want you to elaborate. People expect you to justify your answer, which is nice, but not necessary if they don't ask for it.
-
Unless the question specifically asks for yes or no only, a little elaboration on your reasoning is appreciated, makes the answer much more interesting. On a personal note, I don't think a yes or no answer deserves downratings either. I just let them be. No plus points, no minus points.
-
Because some people dont like getting the answers their question provokes, or people simply dont agree with the answer so rate it down.

For the most part I think it is trolling but some people really want more but don't ask for it. In those cases, what can you do? If one wants elaboration, one need only ask. I find most ABers will give an explanation whether or not one is asked for. We are full of opinions and don't mind sharing them. I almost always give an explanation but not always. Just give a short explanation with your yes or no next time. Once, there was a question asking why when a question had a yes or no answer did we on AB feel the need to give a long story with our answers so I guess you just can't please every one.

I always write, "Yes/no, that is all you asked for."
