  • by paying attention to whats going on...
  • I came to my beliefs from studying history. I realized that I don't think any of our current political parties reflect my philosophy enough to join any of them.
  • I was at the 1968 Democratic Convention in Chicago and witnessed first hand cops (and National Guard)cracking heads and hauling people off to jail for doing little more than being there.
  • Logic, reason and thoughtful examination/comparison of alternatives. In the end you go with what resonates with you, what makes sense to you and what seems fair.
  • I used to have political beliefs but the politicians have chipped away my beliefs so now i dont have any views left to beleive in.
  • I keep close track of events. Both current, and historical. I must say that it is quite difficult to seperate the stuff that my dad, and others throughout my life have crammed down my impressionable mind, but I'm bruttaly sceptic of even my own political views. Much of what I believe is constantly (with intent)put to the fire of debate. Although I will often put up an INTENSE fight over my view, I have been known to surrender to truth. Really, it all depends on whether or not the holes in my "boat" are sufficient to sink my views or not. Those that know me, will tell you that I'm no easy hull to breach (to continue the "boat" analogy)either. It takes some strong facts (we'll call them "canon balls" for continuity's sake) to do so, but I'm not afraid of the risk. Sometimes I need to be sunk.
  • Much studying and reading on the subject.
  • living life. the things i have gone through are what has shaped me and my beliefs. i don't believe in a theory just because.. i have to relate it to myself and how i think the world should be. or in some unfortunate cases a belief can reflect how the world is, even though i wish it were different. but more importantly is thinking outside the box and believing that a better world can exist.
  • Experience.
  • The values that were taught to me by my parents and grandparents, common sense, witnessing the cause and effect of political decisions, and a passion for the truth.
