I felt the blood and placenta splattering on the ground and then reverberating on to my feet. Then I felt my breakfest rising up my throat...
I witnessed and with one other semi-trained person helped deliver a baby for a woman. It was in a foreign country long ago, but quite an experience. It was not as difficult as I had feared it might be.
In away I have. I had both my sons by c-section and the had the curtain up because I was tossing cookies enough as it was from the anisthesa. Mostly I felt this weird burning numbness that made me cold all over. And a feeling of tugging followed by a "pop" when they pulled the boy's out. Some pressure from the incession and having stuff that's supost to be inside laid on me. The feeling when they put you back together that is just bizzar. I felt like the Scare Crow from the Wizard of Oz. And fear, lots and lots of fear, that they wouldn't be okay. Followed by intense joy, love, and happiness when they held my boys up. Healthy and safe and the right weight both of them. Followed by an intense need to get to them or I would die. And frustration because I was going nowhere fast. Just one big roller coaster ride.
Yes and it is an awesome and terrifying thing to see. My wife's pubic bones were too small for my son's skull to fit through them, so the doctor used forceps in reverse to force her pubic bones apart. I have never in my life heard a more blood curdling scream than what she let out when that happened.
Yes, I have witnessed two births. The first one was my friend having her baby and I felt a little weird looking at her um...you know what. Otherwise it was cool. And I witnessed the birth of my son and I just want to say it's way easier to watch than to do. I forgot, I also witnessed plenty of births on TV. And also many animal births both in person and on film. I didn't have much feeling about them except wonder.
Yes I have; I felt very sorry for the mother because she was in a lot of pain.
I was there for the birth of both of my kids...it was a trip. If you want to read the very long version, click here. http://avallach.livejournal.com/258.html
Yes. A whole lot of pain for the actual birth part. Followed by absolute love.
(I also let my nurse mother-in-law watch. I'd love to see her answer to this question.)
Yes, once...my son.
One of my nephews - I had to videotape it, as his Dad (my brother in law) had broken his ankle and was in another hospital on the other side of the city awaiting surgery, and as my sister went into labour in the middle of the night, it was possible we werent going to be able to get babies father across town by private transport, in time for the birth of his son.... but we did, and now they have the video too!
Also ~ Kittens - 8 of them born under my bed at the end of last October.
Three times while in nam I delivered a couple of childrenand just in time to catch the third, nature is awesome.
3 times now
I sure have.
I have.
Yes
1) As a teen I witnessed our cat giving birth. I was pretty impressed.
2) For both our daughters I was there.
Both births were overwhelming.
I tried to stay still and help my wife relax.
By the second daughter there were complications. The baby did not immediately breathe but I was confident it would. And I had to take care of it because the doctor and the nurse had to stop the bleeding of my wife. I think it is difficult to describe what happens, anyway.
We used to watch our dog give birth in the days when no one thought about desexing them. So each year, she was preggers again and we all crouched around watching. Funny, though, never occurred to me that there was any similarity with a human...and parents never commented. THe 60s was a strange time. LOL
I was awake for the first of my two caesareans, so I sort of witnessed it...
Does the birth of baby pigs count?
I thought it was amazing.
The guy that was helping the momma, his whole heart was into it, when a lifeless one came out,
it was obvious he was very upset...
but he messed around with it... and it started squealing.
I've seen a couple and at one, my husband was the one who delivered the baby for a friend of ours. The first one awa in a birthing room in a hospital. It was my niece. I thought it was interesting and not gross at all but then again, we alwasy raised animals, inclduing cows and horses so it was nothing new, actually much smaller and cleaner. But I hated how the doctor rushes in at the last moment and like a baseball catcher, caught the baby and then tossed it to the nurses to clean and finish the jon and then out he went. He gets paid for that???
The second one was a friend who had her 4th home birth and my husband, an experienced massage therapist, attened the birth. It was fabulous. What a wonderful experience!!! It was at home, quiet, took all the time she needed, family around her. I'd do it in a minute that way if I ever got pregnant. So special beyond words.
Happy to be outta there after 9 months!
Yes. 18 years ago yesterday, my perfect son.
yes i did and i felt sick that is just not my thing i cant handle that
i've given birth, but since i was on the pushing end of that one both times i can't say i witnessed it....
my hubby did, however.
I have witnessed it on many occasions where animals are concerned.
Ranging from small animals such as dogs and cats to medium sized animals like cows and goats to animals as large as an elephant.
The most interesting is the multiple deliveries of Goats. The goat stands as if nothing happnened after the first baby goat is delivered and then lies down on her side to deliver the next. I have seen watched a goat delivering 4 babies most nonchalantly.
But I have never had occasion to witness a human birth.
Twice...and they are miracles truly
Yes in numerous farm animals and dogs and cats.
No, I have never witnessed a birth. I have three children but I did not witness their deliveries.
yes!!! i have my goddaughter best site in the whole world i wondered how my friend could handle all the pain.......i felt her pain and she was just so excited to see her she didn't care what the doctors were doing down there it's the best experience i have ever had in my entire life!!!
Yes, 4 times... my two kids, the birth of my friends baby and my sister in laws baby boy.
Twice. I was there when both of my kids were born.

Especially for a guy. By the way the placenta is delivered afterwards not before.

Yeah, they use it in many products. Check your bottles. I'll ask this q on AB and see what we find out. Keep your eye out for it.

As Tom Cruise would say "Yummy! Placenta!" Anyone else where think that smakes of cannibulism? After all it was human placenta. And I have seen more then my fair share of placenta working for a guy who breed horsees. Not pretty at all and a pain to clean up.
