I think everyone should have to retake it every 10 years or so.
-
In the US after a certain age (70 I think?) you have to take the test more often (every 2 years as opposed to every 4 years)
-
Yes! They keep trying to run me down on zebra crossings!
-
I believe if they are pulled over for driving recklessly (too slow, swerving lanes, etc) they should have to retake it.
-
In the UK all they have to do is have an eye test (i think so ive heard). If people re-took their test there would be less accidents in my opinion. It may be a little biast as ive recently been in a serious accident involving a 94yr old who decided to pull out of a side road onto a dual carrage way. He died, and i suffered lots of injuries. They hog fast lanes doing 20mph, and drive too close to pavements etc. Maybe its just me :/

No, not if they are regular drivers. But they should have their eyes checked.
-
I think that would be a good idea. I would like to see those who are 70 or older take the drivers test.
-
Yes! I know a few 80+ individuals who shouldn't be behind the wheel or at the very least should have a limited license (no driving after dark)
-
I think it should be mandatory at the age of 65 that everyone start taking tests again, just as they did to get their first license.
-
In the UK when your 70 you have to get a doctors note saying you fit to drive, i.e. no fits, passing out, can see... things like that. But I do think that we should have to resit our test, not like the first test but a mini test, maybe the theory too, when I was studying for my theory my mum had no idea about most of it!!!

I think that, regardless of mental or physical health, once a person reaches the age of 65, they should be required to take a behind the wheel driving test every year, and once they pass 70 that should be increased to every 6 months. I know that may sound excessive, but elderly drivers cause more accidents in the US than teenagers...that's a scary stat, if you ask me...I remember how I drove as a teenager, lol! I read an article a couple of years ago about a program for helping the elderly get around. The details are sketchy (I've forgotten a lot of it), but as far as I recall it was something like people donated their cars and volunteers basically chauffeur older people who can no longer drive. I think this is a fantastic idea and a great way to help older people who think they have to continue driving, even if they are impaired by their age, because they have no good alternative.
-
In the UK you have to reapply at 70 but at the moment I do not believe that you have to retake a test just have health and eyesight comfirmations.
-
I think everyone should have to resit every five years. Given some of the driving I see every day (and not older people either) it would appear most have forgotten basic road skills ;)

Most definately, i looked after a chap, road traffic acident, 75 yrs old, couldn't even stand or straighten his arms, and had early signs of dementia.....he caused the crash! police were waiting for him for questioning, i couldn't beleive that someone with his ailments was still driving!! Now i am on the road i see some horrendous driving from the elderly, half of them are wearing double bifocals or cataracts lol.

there actually should be one for everybody every ten years because as it seems to me no one can drive. not even me
