Indonesian: kikeriku Italian: chicchirichí It is something that often people don't realise: that the sounds animals make to each language group can be quite different. That is because speakers of each language hear the animal's cry according to the sounds found in their language. I used to have a "sound" lesson when I was teaching English as a Second Language, so that the students could give input about how they heard a sound before they learnt to express that sound in English.
