  • I didn't get my license until I was in my 30s. There was always someone around to take me somewhere I had to go. But I did have a friend who would take me out driving so I could get some practice. What really helped was driving for a long period of time. If you can drive safely, ask a friend who is going some distance and ask if it would be okay for you to drive them. Time under your belt driving is the best teacher. Just a few times doing this and you should ace the test, especially if you have already taken it and know what they want from you. We had one DMV that would get people right off just leaving the DMV. There was a sidewalk in front of the parking lot. You had to stop before the sidewalk and not just before the street. Most people don't know that. They just pull up and look for cars without thinking of the sidewalk. Knowing little things like that from talking to people really helped me pass very well. OH, and practice with the type of car you can take your test in. I mostly drove an automatic but used a manual for the test. That made it REALLY hard!
  • The problem in the past was no one would help me and I didn't have enough money to pay for an instructor so I figured with the little experience I had...I could wing the driving test and pass but unfortunately failing 2x shows that it doesn't work. But this year, I have a car I can practice on and I've been practicing 1 hour 5 days a week and will do so until the day of my driving test in about a month. Do you think that's enough time?
  • If you are failing the written test it a matter of memorizing your local laws. If it's the road portion of the test you are failing, it's a matter of practice, and relaxing. Spend and much time as you can with someone you trust practicing in a parking lot first, then on lightly traveled side streets. Work your way up to bigger roads, then freeways. The big thing is not so much learn to drive, it's learning the laws, and becoming comfortable driving within the laws.
  • After my dad died I didn't have anyone to teach me how to drive. I went to driving school, it really helped and they provided the car. Check in to doing this it should help.
