How do you change the timing chain on a 1979 chevy luv 4 wheel drive truck? How do you put it back together?

Hopefully you're just thinking ahead, and not asking a question that really should have been asked before taking the thing apart. :)

I'm taking that you removed the timing cover and valve cover.Look on the front of the cam pulley and you will see a dot.Put that dot on the bottom.Take a small mirror and place in front of the cam pulley.You will see an arrow pointing up.Aline the pointer on the head to the dot on the cam pulley.Pull your distributor cap off.Follow no 1 plug wire to the cap.Mark on the distributor where no 1 is.Aline the rotor button to the mark on your distributor.Now go down to the crank pulley and line the mark on the pulley to the arrow on the cover.If this dont help email me at j.pennington47@yahoo.com.
