Means "son of Agapit." Agapit means "son of the dearly loved."

So, "son of the dearly loved."

“Ov”, “off”, “in” and “ev” at the end of a Russian last name indicate the last name means “son of” ____ (whatever).

The problem with some of these names is that it is hard to tell whether or not the name is literal (it means, literally, "son of the dearly loved") or not (it means son of a guy named "Agapit")
