Question

Help answer this question below.

I have a 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee that is blowing interior fuse #8 (20A) FLIP SOLN. Right now the rear wiper and rear window latch will not disengage. Tried to replace the fuse and it blew again. Any suggestions?

Fuses are there to make sure the electrical system is protected from surges, shorts, etc. It's MUCH cheaper to replace a 10cent fuse than redo the wiring for components in a vehicle.

There are two things that could be wrong here:
    1) You are using the wrong fuse. If you don't match the type of fuse that was originally in the socket then you could have damage, or it will keep blowing. Check your owner's manual for the correct type of fuse for that hole. (It will say '10' or another number on the fuse)

    2) There is a problem with the component's electrical wiring. This could be a short, bare wires, a bad wiper motor in the tailgate, etc.

One hopes that it's #1, as problem #2 involves finding the problem then fixing it. Often, finding the problem proves harder than fixing it.

    Hope this helps,
    Good luck
